Contrary to popular belief, the opposite of stress is vitality, not rest. Why settle for merely managing stress, when you can live and work with vitality? Resilience is not just something that some people have and others don’t. It’s not an accident of fortunate DNA. It’s a skill that we can all develop.
This session highlights the predictable phases of change and data regarding stress and resilience to help us become “stress survivors,” with emphasis on evidence-based self-care techniques. We have over 40 years of research on positive psychology, and from that we will gather energy-boosting practices that help us to cope, and even thrive, in times of change. Participants will explore dozens of behaviors for reducing stress, including optimism skills and gratitude practice, as well as blog, book and media resources for continuing the learning beyond this session.
